Forest Elemental 001 is my take on the notion of a mythical creature of nature that was found out by evil men, snared in a trap, and then bound in place. Its body bleeding and fate uncertain, this poor creature remains injured and imprisoned as the days grow colder and colder. My personal identification with this piece reminds me of some of my experiences with depression; being stuck in place and somewhere twixt dead and alive. Though it doesn't look the part during its construction I found myself thinking of Skinwalker cryptids of Native American myth and lore.
