Torso006 took the structure concept I explored in Hand003 (Internal twine) and expanded it greatly. The little wood mounts came from the guts of a piano, I strung and ran the twine/string (which was a royal pain after a while I tell you). The symbolism of the the twine/string (It's string, I don't know why I keep calling it twine. It's not twine) is a reflection of the external stressors of the world and how they impact one internally. They reach out like nerves or muscle fiber, anchoring on painful intrusions but all in an attempt to keep whole. The cage's symbolism is obvious... an attempt of the torso's owner to keep safe something important and deeply personal (key). However, despite all applied effort, the cage is still penetrated, still violated and the key threatened.
