Mensch 003 actually started off as a diorama project believe it or not. From there it evolved into something more akin to my older plaster/anatomy pieces so that was unexpected. Likewise in style, the message behind Mench 003 is a traditional one for me. It's a broken, exhausted figure struggling to decide twixt holding his heart in his chest or tearing the wretched thing out and being done with the whole failed endeavour. This creature is tired. His body is failing, missing, repaired haphazardly. His eyes droop, his tongue is gone because words long ago lost all meaning. Another day, another bloody shamble forward, another creaking, broken joint. How long before he decides the march is no longer worth it and completely collapses into the earth?
Fun facts: Most of the ribs came from old piano parts, the heart was actually a rework of an incomplete and larger project I started in 2018, and keeping the vertebrae from collapsing was a real pain.
